What? Me? Excited? Oh hell no.
We are getting rid of our TV this month. I’m stoked – I’ve been wanting to do this for ages – even though we don’t watch much TV, it is easy to sit down in front of the umpteenth episode of the Simpsons and zone out. But honestly, I’d rather read a book. NZ is switching to digital, which means if we want to keep watching TV, we have to buy a $100 box. So instead, we’re selling our old set on TradeMe and watching shows on demand or on DVD. Documentary Heaven is going to be my new favorite site – free documentaries online – lots of archaeology, music and history shows, especially from British producers I love. I’m looking forward to seeing Heavy Metal Britannia and Heavy Metal in Baghdad – there’s even a category for Atheism (I wasn’t aware it was the subject of so many documentaries …).

Cvlt Nation interviews photographer Olia Pishchanska – If you like the piece “Dreamcatcher” above, check out her pictures – you will not be disappointed.
I am looking for book recommendations – (more about this coming up) and I came across the Guide to Supernatural Fiction.
Ooh, and 4500 Miniature books!
Kobe’s Heavy Metal Man.
Photos from celebrities’ Digital deaths – some are quite gothy and cool.
Wasteland Weekend – a post-apocalyptic festival in the California desert for Mad Max re-enactors. I also think this would be great fun.
I first heard Chrome Division (Norwegian band with Shagrath on guitar, Athera – Shady Blue – from Susperia on vocals, and a few other famous names) on the free Nuclear Blast demo that came out the other week. Loved their first single “Bulldogs Unleashed” and I’m loving their new track “Ghost Riders in the Sky”.
The Steff Metal Wacken contingent grows by the day! If you’re heading over to Wacken this year and want to meet up, email me and we’ll talk.
What are you up to this week? I am preparing documentation for Europe, frantically finishing all my writing, and watching Castle.
