    August 2nd, 2010 | Linking Horn, Steff

Argh, it’s the eighth month of the year already! I can’t believe how fast 2010 is going. Also, to all the lucky bastards heading out to Wacken Open Air this week, I hate you. I hate you so much. (I mean, heve fun!)

Anyway, enough of that! On to the Linkage!

10 Ways to Party Hard Beyond the Grave. I was partial to mummification myself, but every single on e of these ideas is more metal than the last.

Maureen Johnson wrote this Manifesto on her blog, and it’s been doing the rounds of the lifestyle blogs I read recently. The question seems to be “should you be a ‘brand’ online?” which I actually think isn’t the right question. I think the right questions are “what are you doing on the internet? What’s the purpose of it all? What are you looking for? Have you found it? Are you looking in the right place?” Discuss.

Via Art of Adornment, the coolest charity – Herorats – who raise money to train rats to sniff out landmines and all sorts of useful stuff.

Post-Apocalyptic Wedding Shoot. Also, now you can walk down the aisle in unholy matrimony at this year’s Ozzfest.

Nick Cave is going to be rewriting the Crow remake. If anyone else were doing it, I would say “Bollocks!” but Nick Cave will make it right. Someone named Cillian Murphy will be playing Eric. I really need to learn more about pop culture cuz I have no idea who that is.

    Lord Voldemort is on twitter.

Crazy Cat Lady fashion shoot. So many pretty kittys.

How to Make an Absolute Fortune From Your Blog (really). This article was a real inspiration to me, partly because I know I’m going to be job hunting in about nine months and it’s a bit scary. The author is Kevin Geary, who write a really neat site called Employee Revolution, which I’m also finding quite interesting.

Best tattoo ever? Worst tattoo ever? – go over to Metal Insider and decide for yourself.

Zoe Zombie presents a great tutorial on Wacken Wear for the Ladies. Love your work, Zoe!

And with that, I’m off to eat cherry chocolate brownie and watch Outrageous Fortune.

Peace sells .. but who’s buying?

I appreciate that you hate me! And i will have lots of phun at WOA2010 =).

And btw: Slayer-Granny is probably the best Grandma evah! I think her fav. LP is “Satanic Wehrmacht”.

But why are you drinking absinthe?
I once talked to an australian Metalhead and she was drinking absinthe, too. It seems pretty popular on the otherside of the world.

Keep on going Steff! See you in Wacken (2011?) – Rain or Shine!

  • @MrPolek have an awesome time, you lucky bastard! I’ll see you there next year!

I actually had no absinthe at all, because I had work to do the next day. But it’s just as much fun watching everybody else drink the stuff and die slow, painful deaths :)

It’s illegal over here to import real absinthe, which I think is part of the appeal. Also, we’re a real culture of binge drinkers (except me, I hardly ever drink) – we like to get as drunk as we can, as fast as we can. Europeans, I noticed, seemed to drink constantly, but stay in that happy stage of slightly tipsy all day, whereas we go from “Hello, this is a nice party. Can I get you a drink?” to “Aaaaaah, I am a vacuum cleaner!” as fast as we can. Dunna why.

Eric is Eric Draven..the main character from The Crow. The original film was one of the better comic to movie efforts, back when that was much rarer occurrence. The comic is a hell of a read if you can track it down, tons of emotion in that story as James O’Barr (the creator) wrote it in response to the death of his fiance.

  • @Rob. Thanks! But I know who Eric is – I’m a huge Crow fan (both the Brandon Lee film and the original comic). I meant I have no idea who Cillian Murphy is. I just looked him up and I haven’t seen any of the movies he’s been in, although he’s an Irish actor and quite critically acclaimed. He plays Robert Fischer, Jr. in that new film Inception, which I’ll probably be seeing soon.

  • The most notable role I remember Cillian from was playing Scarecrow in the latest Batman movies. I’m nervous that they’re toying with such an iconic classic movie. Some movies don’t need remaking. I hope they don’t angle it towards the Twilighters just for the money, they’ve already tried to ruin vampires, they better not try to soft-up The Crow.

  • Actually am excited now that I know about Nick Caves, its supposed to be truer to the graphic novel. I love the og crow, but the novel was like a punch in the stomach it’s amazing. Hope it lives up to both. I actually really like cilian murphy. I think he can do a good job.

I follow Voledemort. He’s hilarious in a purely evil way.

  • @Holly – yes, I really wish they weren’t remaking the Crow – isn’t there enough original ideas left in the world without re-doing these old ones? But if they HAVE to do it, having Nick Cave in charge puts my mind at ease that at least it will be reinterpreted in a new and interesting way.

@Anastasia – I agree – I adore the graphic novel. It will definitely be an interesting movie to see ;)
