In Steff Metal news, over on Soul Reader blog, Kelly Crabbe has a profile of me and my artwork. You can also read about my artwork and the craft fair I’ll be participating in at DNA Craft Fair. If you’re in Auckland on the 3rd July, come down to the Mt. Albert Memorial Hall between 1-5pm, and say hello.

It’s the 30th anniversary of British Steel – one of my favorite Judas Priest albums ever. In a recent interview, K. K. Downing said:
It was 1980 when we did it, and we’d made a few albums by then. We weren’t exactly floundering around, we were gaining momentum, but everything did lock in with “British Steel”: the artwork, the songs, the stage clothes. Everything consolidated who we were and where we were going. It was almost like a rebel’s almanac, for want of a better term. Audiences endeared themselves to it.
Princess and the Pea shoot.
Abandoned Six Flags in New Orleans. This is a seriously creepy shoot.
Sarah Von at Yes and Yes wrote an inspiring post on how to create an amazing circle of friends. Sometimes we forget to make an effort to continually connect with our friends. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful core group of inspiring and beautiful friends.
Apparently, the new Metallica stage show will rival The Wall. That’s high talk, boys.
Made by Hand: In Praise of Amateurs. I love this article, because it reflects a lot of the values CDH and I share: we love taking pleasure in being able to make things other people pay someone else to do / make for them. We hate being detached from the things we feel we ought to know about.
A brilliant post (seriously: BRILLIANT) by Ashe Mischief on Reading for Sexual Deviants. I have never read any of these books, but now I’ve put “Henry and June” on my to-read list. It doesn’t help I’m fascinated with Henry Miller. This post is a part 1, and I can’t wait to read parts 2, 7 and 21.
Ron Pippin’s Biochemical Menagerie – the title alone just makes you want to click.
