• Metal Mixtape: Christian Metal

    August 1st, 2010 | Metal Mixtape

Here are a few gems from some popular Christian metal bands, mostly recommended by you guys this week – I’ve tried to choose a mix from several genres. Thanks for all the great comments and music suggestions – I’ve discovered some seriously cool bands, and I do believe that – while I’m still not convinced “unblack” metal works – you can be metal and christian and still make kickass music.

    Saint – In the Night

Omigod, it’s Judas Priest! Seriously, these guys are awesome.

    Another Saint song “Time’s Wasting”

Tourniquet – Besprinkled in Scarlet Horror

These guys remind me of Annihilator, just with slightly more serious lyrics. I’m not the biggest fan of the vocalist, but it does work, and the music is wicked!

Crimson Moonlight – The Final Battle

I love this – the vocals actually work quite well with the keyboard-heavy riffs here.

    Venia – In Our Weakness

We all know I am a sucker for female-fronted melodic metal. Amy Lee should take some lessons from this lass – what a beautiful, haunting tone in her voice. I don’t think this is the best song, actually, but there’s a lot of potential here.

Paramaecium – Removed from the Grave

    New favorite band.

Parameacium – Voyage of the Severed

I fucking love these guys. Some of the best death / doom I’ve heard in quite awhile.

    Living Sacrifice – Distorted

Again, very impressed with this – melodic death style.

    Bride – Rattlesnake

From the “Snakes on the Playground” album, which I don’t own but have heard a lot and really love, thrash metallers Bride rip out a great tune.

Narnia – Long Live the King

    Mortification – Necromanicide

We finish with one of my favorite Mortification tracks. Enjoy.

Right, well, I had a killer headache and a sore belly from laughing too much (went to a seriously wicked party last night – there might even be a few photos to show you soon). Next week, I’m leaving the Christian Metal alone, and moving on to a completely new subject. Hope you enjoy :)

    Steff Metal, signing off.
