Metal Mixtape: Songs that changed my life
May 1st, 2010 | Metal MixtapeI haven’t given much commentary this week, as you can find it all on thursday’s post “How I Got Into Metal“, but here are, in rough chronological order, some of the songs that have had the most profound effect on my life.
Walt Disney’s Monster Hits
You can actually watch the whole thing on Youtube. Coolness. I am going to find it on DVD as soon as I can.
Soul Asylum – Runaway Train
Spice Girls – Wannabe
This is a live video, and it sounds a bit blah, but you can tell they’re not lip-synching, which is so cool.
Alanis Morisette – You Oughta Know
Metallica – Enter Sandman
Metallica – Creeping Death
To this day, Creeping Death remains my favorite Metallica song. I cannot tell you how incredible it was when they played it live and I was right there yelling “Die Die Die” with tens of thousands of other people. Incredible.
Manowar – Warriors of the World
Nick Cave – The Ship Song
this still makes me cry. (I am such a wuss)
Nick Cave – Stagger Lee
And a filthy one, for all you blokes. (WARNING: Swearwords, explicit language and lyrical about buggery, felatio and shooting people’s heads off)
The Rasmus – In the Shadows
My first clue that men from Scandinavia are gorgeous.
I just watched it again. Omigod is he beautiful!
Blind Guardian – Valhalla
Best. Live. Song. EVER.
(I know. I was there.)
Well, that was fun. I’m off to watch more Rasmus videos!
Yours from the Past and Present Future \m/
