I make my own bread, so I've already developed an unhealthy fascination with yeast. I keep hearing horror stories about exploding bottles, though. I am currently making apricot wine, and i am forever fascinated by the way yeast behaves. And as for everything else, you know as well as anyone else that persistence pays off.
