Hot off the presses. The recently-released Varg Vikernes (Count Grishnakh) has written nine new songs and will be recording and releasing a new Burzum album, probably in 2010.
He told the Norwegian Dagbladet paper the album “will be metal, and the fans can expect to hear some real Burzum.”
The newspaper goes on to report Varg’s other wanderings. While serving 16 years of his prison sentence for killing fellow black-metaller Euronymous, Varg has been writing a book about his side of the story, which he hopes to release via a publisher. He’s acquired a farm in the municipality of Bø in the Telemark county, where he now lives with his French wife, and son.
It is so beautiful up here. Here we can be by ourselves. But there is a lot of work that is required to maintain the house, lawn and garden.”
I will be buying this album for sure. While I would not in any way condone Varg’s actions as a murderer / arsonist, or his racist tendencies, I adore his music. He is truly a man that finds beauty in dark places.
Metalheads all over the internet are bemoaning the upcoming Lords of Chaos movie, slating it’s release with the death of black metal as a form of underground music. Get over it, guys.
My current favorite quote regarding everyone’s bitching about what the Lords of Chaos movie will do to black metal comes from Cinerary, a user on the Metal Archives Forum:
Just because every Linkin Park fan knows about Dragonforce doesn’t stop “Sonic Firestorm” from being a good album. Same shit here.
I agree, Cinerary. I totally agree.
