Up the Irons! for 20 May 2010
May 20th, 2010 | Up the Irons!I haven’t done one of these in awhile. If you’re new to Steff Metal, which I know some of you are, Up the Irons! Is an occasional shout-out to good things in life. I write mine here, and you’re welcome to add your own in the comments.
I am far too busy, which is a good thing, but also a bad thing, because I feel like I can’t stop, take a step back and appreciate what I’ve been doing.

My table at Crafternoon Tea, May 2010
\m/ a successful first craft show, where I spent the majority of my profit on gourmet cupcakes \m/ wonderful new writing clients with incredible imagination and passion \m/ preparing my new, uber-large size canvas for an upcoming art competition \m/ no more than five days away from getting rid of my novel (every time I think it’s nearly ready we think of something to make it better) \m/ Tickets to Bill Bailey and Sweeny Todd \m/ \m/ nearly being on top of my email (to all those wonderful people who I said I’d get back to and haven’t, I’ll be doing that next week!) \m/ finally, our first real, winter RAIN! How I’ve missed you! \m/ CDH, who hates all people equally \m/ hot noodle soup on wintery nights \m/ seeing my new website design come together \m/ hot water bottles and snuggle forts \m/ Being contracted to write an article about Wacken Open Air \m/ my dad picking up German hitchikers wearing Wacken shirts \m/ deleting heaps of sites from my Reader \m/ curbing my habit of checking my email 17 million times per day \m/ finishing my first steampunk painting (The Clockmaker’s Wife – available in the Steff Metal shop \m/ the way stressful things just seem to sort themselves out \m/ NZ Metallica fans sabotaging TradeMe (NZ eBay) auctions from ticket scalpers \m/ Cardamon cupcakes.
What are you loving this week?
Remember, if you like metal, you’re my friend. \m/

You are writing a article about Wacken! That’s great! Where it’s gonna be published?
I’m going the third time this year and I love who obsessed you are about it! Just as me =)!
I found this the other day and though it will be difficult to pull off, I think the timing is perfect:
Heaven & Hell Cake
@MrPolek – It’s going to be in a US magazine called German Life. The article will be about the township of Wacken and what they do to prepare and particpate in the festival. It won’t be out till mid next year.
I am so jealous! Wacken is very special – especially for us all the way down here because we’d never thought anything like it could possibly exist :) I will be seeing you there Wacken 2011.
@Euphoria. That looks so delicious but SO complicated. I might try and bake it and show pictures of the disasterous consequences.
This week I am loving the work in progress that is our metal denim jackets. Each patch is handsewn with much love. Instead of anniversary presents for each other this year, we decided to choose the patches for each others jackets.
