Metal Mixtape: Veldensteiner Festival 2011

Brutal Tunes, Concerts & Grog Fests, Metal Mixtape

In my last few posts, I’ve talked about the Veldensteiner Festival – an awesome folk metal and medieval rock festival we got to attend while in Bavaria, held inside the grounds of the Veldenstein castle. You can read my other posts at: Mead, Metal and Mad German Archaeologists: Veldenstein 2011, Veldensteiner Festival 2011 photos, and Blackmore’s Night (live at Burg Veldenstein).

I haven’t done a metal mixtape in awhile, but I thought it would be a great idea to share some of the live festival clips I found online. (I’ll be doing one of these for our Wacken adventures in a week or two). The sound quality isn’t that great, but nevertheless, I hope you enjoy!

The Sandsacks – Lock Lomond

One of my favorite Irish songs – and a great song to play on the whistle.

Eluveitie – Your Gaulish War

I cannot get enough of this band.

Feuerschwanz – Der Henker

I must admit, I didn’t really “get” Feuerschwanz, but the crowd LOVED them.

Letzte Instanz

Proof that you can never have too much cello

Letzte Instanz – I was Made for Loving You

Eluveitie – Omnos

One of my favorite Eluveitie songs.

Subway to Sally – Kleid aus Rosen

I am right up the front in this – I think you can just see my hair flying around in the left.

Nachtgeshrei – Fiur + An mein Ende

My new favorite German medieval rock / metal band. The singer has an incredible voice.

Subway to Sally – Henkersbraut

Nachtgeschrei – Niob

I cannot get enough of this song. Yes, the audio is seriously crappy, but the album is An Rande Der Welt, and it’s wicked.

Eluveitie – Inis Mona

Beautiful beautiful men.
