I haven’t done one of these in too long.
If you’re new here, Up the Irons! is a shout-out to everything that’s good in life, because life is quite grand, really, and as long as we have mead, meat, men, maidens and metal, we’ll be just fine.
I’m sending out a huge Up the Irons! this week to the following awesomeness:
Travel plans progressing at breakneck pace \m/ already discussing ideas for our next trip – we’re both dying to get back into archaeology, so we’re gonna be volunteering on some digs abroad. \m/ kicking ass in my writing business this week \m/ the new Amon Amarth album Surtur Rising – can’t some spinning this \m/ the weather over here turning grymm – so nice being tucked up warm in bed while it’s pissing down outside \m/ fun times ahead – a party tonight, and Alestorm next weekend! (it will be pirate week on the blog …) \m/ Wishbone Ash \m/ awesome writer friend Felicity Bloomfield aka Louise Curtis – who has completed a Year of Awesomeness where she did EVERY SINGLE THING on my 101 Ways to Cheer Yourself Up post, and more besides. \m/ I drove a steam locomotive – did I tell you this? No? Well I did. It was a JA75 – the second-largest locomotive to travel on NZ gauge, so it wasn’t some piddly little shunter or anything. And I drove it – it was one of the most incredible things I’ve ever done \m/ Going to Dr. Sketchy’s for the first time and having fun doing horrible doodles of Hannah Missanthropy as a gothic ballerina. \m/ Discovering the world’s best pizza restaurant on K’rd \m/ Our wonderful German friends who have been so helpful trying to solve our campervan woes \m/ all the amazing people who’ve emailed me this week about the Epic Interrogations \m/ working with Brutalitees on the up-and-coming Steff Metal corpsepaint kitty t-shirt! \m/ still having an easter egg left in the fridge \m/ rice-bubble squares
Articles I’m currently working on – 101 metal albums you should listen to before you die, metal history of a pirate ship, 5 metal things to do in London, tips for renting a campervan in Germany … feel free to chime in with suggestions in the comments.
What’s rocking your world this week?
